I have now decided...

To make this as a blog cum lookbook. A friend told me I can make a career out of dressing up people. I have to admit, because of my weight I tend to have a small satisfaction in styling other people.
So we'll see how it will go from here.

Since the summer season is beginning I'd make an entry about what one can wear for this season. Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. ^_^

I Heart The Baker's Fair in WTC

I visited two expositions just this Friday, 02/18. The Baker's fair at the WTC in Manila, or is that still considered Pasay? Whatever. And the Annual Philippine Travel Expo at SMX.

I've been planning to take my customized chocolate business seriously this time. I often do things out of whim, that once I start getting bored I tend to forget about them but if I find something to be passionate about I tend to be obsessed with it. I'm not a chocolate lover, to be honest. I do eat chocolate from time to time but I don't pig out on them. I can't, I'm diabetic and unless it's sugar free I'm not supposed to touch it. But even before I was diagnosed, I've always preferred the Bittersweet kind. There's the satisfaction in letting each bite melt into your mouth as the taste of bitterness overpowers the subtle sweetness of the rich cocoa.

Believe me, I was in paradise when I entered the place. Lots of moulds and baking equipments, the choices were vast and I just wish I had more money saved up. Good thing most of the items I liked were priced within reach. Found a Winnie the Pooh and Kerokerokeropi head choco moulds, spatulas that I need, paper linings that I need for my choco boxes and chocolate cup molds.

I went and checked the chocolate blocks but they seem to be more expensive than the ones I buy at my supplier. And the taste wasn't that good, even their premium class were a bit of disappointment. The Belgian and decadent ones were too expensive and might not be good for my "just starting" business. I can try checking them out when I have the means to expand my current obsession :p

The cake designs were lovely, too bad I wasn't able to take some pictures that I could have shared with you guys. I do have to say that my favorite design for the foundant cakes was the luggage wedding cake. It had the sense of creativity and artistry. I'd probably get that if I was getting married.

The Travel expo was a bit of disappointment as well. We yearly visit the event at SMX, (even that time when it was held at Megamall) but it wasn't as entertaining and eye catching as the previous one.

Of fortune telling, feng shui, palmistry and clairvoyance.

I'm a deep faithed Catholic who also believes in the supernatural and powers beyond our imagination. I only follow God' teaching and words but it doesn't mean that there are no other beings out of our realms.
Mahirap na sabihin na I only believe in God, maybe the right term is I only worship God, the Father Almighty.

But I don't fully shun other advices around me.

Our minds are greater than the lining of stars and planets, our thinking can affect our surrounding more than we think we could. That is Noetic Science (See Brown's The Last Symbol and Google it. It is actually an amazing research)

Anyway, the first kind of "hula" I've had was from a grade school classmate. I know it was bullsh*t but it still made me nervous. According to her "findings" I couldn't travel out of the country because of a certain line on my palm. But she was wrong. But that thought kind of hunted me, not because of the death part but I'm a freaking traveler and if your one of my dreams will not come true, it will freak me out. Good thing I was able to.

Second one, took me a more than a decade. It was with a Feng Shui master, Joseph- I forgot- okay lemme google him. One thing I know is he is the one at the Mandarin Oriental and he supposedly "saw" that Erap would be impeached. And he is a really great necromancer of Asia. He even shared that he does an annual rearrangment and redecoration of his home back in HK. Anyway, lemme google first.
There. Found his name. It's Joseph Chau of the Mandarin Oriental Feng Shui Shop.

I was with my Mom, sister, my Aunt and her husband. I even skipped classes just to join them.
Long story short, he told me that I have a better career at a government office (which made me smile because I never told him my course during that time). That I can be very lucky since I possess almost all types/kinds of a Rabbit. I couldn't remember if those were fire, earth, metal (due to my birth year, birth month and time of birth). But I had to be really careful cause I might end up getting pregnant at an early age. And I was thinking "Yeah right? I would like to have a boyfriend first, Please!"

I'm not saying I didn't believe in his readings but it was mixed feelings of awe and doubt.

Years after I realized that my Mom is right. After he gave us a reading, he asked us to step out of the room so he can read for my Aunt and Uncle. My mom told me a really great story about her childhood.

According to her, she and her brothers love to play with Salagubang or a giant beetle. Tying it's leg with a string would be a childhood pastime of our's as well. One day, her brothers came home with a bountiful catch of Salagubangs as temporary pets (because let's face it they start dying once children starts to catch them). She was asking them to give her some but they all were too greedy to spare her one. She went home crying and found herself praying and wishing she had some Salagubangs as well. After a few tears she decided to go out again and play.
And lo and behold, the tree just outside their house was then filled with lots of Salagubangs buzzing and flying around.

My second encounter with this kind was actually just by tuning on the radio. One night I decided to stay up really late and enjoy a new found hobby. Listening to Magic 89.9 and Mellow/ Mellownights 94.7.
Maybe it was fate, I dunno. But during that time, DJ Pat of Daybreak had a special guest with a codename of Ms. TCR. Or short for Ms. Tarot Card Reader (It's pronounced /Taro/) I enjoyed the nonstop calls and crazy love questions that came in. And to be from Cavite, it would cost me to call a Manila line. So I decided to send a text message. My question wasn't picked, maybe because 95% of the callers and texters had asked the same kind of thing- love life.

I wasn't really disappointed and saw it as a sign that I shouldn't bother with such things. After a few weeks, I decided to tune in again. One great reason though was that I have a crush on the DJ, not because of his looks but because of the way he thinks and express his self. He reminded me of a long time and long term crush of mine back in grade school that lasted up to high school (And yes, he still gives me the goosebumps when we talk about him or sees him around). Going back, I didn't expect that Ms. TCR would be back at his show. I tried sending a text again, and strike two- It wasn't read on-air. Fine, I thought. I enjoyed listening pa rin naman.
Third time, I was really bored and decided to wait up until 2am to listen to Pat. I was addicted to him and didn't even expected Ms. TCR again. What was crazier was that it was also her 3rd time on-air. I knew it meant something. So I sent a text message saying that everytime I decide to tune-in and wait up for Pat, she'd be a guest. For 3 consecutive times, I would always catch her as the guest. Attached was my question. I asked something about who I will end up marrying or spending the rest of my life with. (Since a question answerable by a yes or no isn't allowed- cause you have to pull the cards yourself for that kind) After laying the cards (with JR Jocks around) she gave an answer: I have known the guy for a long time already. I just kept on resisting and turning him down, but in the end he will really be the one.

Of course I panicked, there aren't that many men in my life. So who could it be? And I swear up to now, I have no idea. So I shrugged it off.

3rd encounter was with Ms. TCR again, this time I asked about my career and what will happen if I decide to apply for a job at  government office. She gave me this answer: You'll get a job BUT you wouldn't like it. You wouldn't like the way they run things. But if you still pursue it, you'd meet someone. So it's up to you.

So the cards still had to insert a love scenario, Whatever! I'm still more concerned about my career. Whoever he is, can wait.

Actually come to think of it, I did have an encounter with someone who can see beyond what the eye shows. My highschool classmate's dad was a clairvoyant. He's a Lebanese who married a Filipina and decided to stay in Manila.
We we're just out for Kwek kwek, apparently our school won't allow us to go out of school grounds with supervision from the school bus or parents. So we decided to ride their car and buy some Kwek Kwek and back to school again.
We we're all sitting at the back when he suddenly spoke, "Someone has her red day today?"
During that time, I wasn't paying that much attention. Then my close friend laughed and admitted she has her period. His daughter, my classmate, then mentioned that his dad can see. We were all intrigued then, a lot of them asked questions except for me. I enjoyed listening to them when he suddenly spoke again, "Your dad has a gun right?" I wasn't expecting that he was referring to me, he then pointed at me and made eye contact at the rear view mirror. "Me?" I Asked. "Yes, is he a policeman?" Mr. M asked again. "Oh, yeah he does. But it's just for protection." I replied.
They even talked about how he was able to solve his bestfriend's brother's case. His bestfriend's brother has been missing for quite sometime and couldn't be found even by the Lebanese policemen. One night, Mr. M dreamed about the brother's body floating on a body of water. He told his bestfriend about his dream the very next day and they told the police. The body was found floating on a lake, bloated.

My encounter with Mr. M didn't stop there. My ate was telling me a story about a foreign manghuhula and that he was really good. I told her a story about my classmate's dad as well. Turned out we were talking about the same person. And she understood why Mr. M told her that she looked familiar during the first meeting.

My ate's friends still consult him. And he appears to be consistent and true. I was about to consult him around December when our friend seek his help. After hours of listening and chatting with him (6 hours, that's why he told us he doesn't want to have appointments with people he knows because he ends up telling stories instead of reading for them :P) I decided to pass. Because I was hungry and decided I really don't need to have my future or past read before me because we can do it ourselves. We just need to be open minded and accept things.
Love, hatred, agony and revenge just blur our sight. We just have to learn to accept what is in front of us instead of turning our heads to look for answers.

Even the lesson of my Mom's story about the Salagubang is simple and short. We can listen to advices and stuff but in the end, we take matters and our fate in our own hands. Decision making is all up to us.
Wag mo lang isalalay ang lahat sa sabi sabi ng ibang tao, because in the end we decide on what will happen to our fate.

(I'm sleepy so I'm sorry for the error in grammar -_-zZzZZzZZZZzzzzz)

Usapang Tiktik at iba pang aswang.

I was browsing through a fan page for online sellers at FB (yes tambay ako dun) when one co-seller posted and asked if we believe in Tik-tik.

Well most of us did. And she did mention na they were hearing sounds na ganoon daw. We even asked if it was loud or soft na. Tiktik's location can be estimated through the volume of the sound it makes. She said that it was a mix of both.

What is a tiktik?
It is believed to be an aswang that victimizes pregnant women and gravely sick people. They have long really thin tongues that can slip through the tiniest holes. When a woman is sleeping, it will let it's tongue slither and eat the baby inside the womb. The mother will also die in the process. For the sick people, I am not sure on how they die.

We immediately adviced her to do some superstitious beliefs that might save her if in case it was a tiktik nga:
Nalulusaw sila at nasusugatan. (Scatter rock salt at your yard, roof and keep it handy. Aswangs hate salt. It burns them and wounds them)

(Cover your tummy with black cloth or wear a black shirt to make the baby's movement undetected by the tiktik.)

(Make sure to have a Stingray's tail (dried) and a plant by the same name. Available at Quiapo by the street vendors near the church. It is believed that when any aswang is lashed by the said tail, it's wounds would not heal. For the plant, if it is planted on the yard aswangs would be afraid to come near your house)

(If you are a Catholic. Try buying St. Benedict's Medal (available at St. Paul's at SM Malls, etc) It is said to keep evil spirits away, anti- theft and is used for exorcism. You can check his life story to know why. You can also hang it above the entrance of the house or a business place or place it inside the cash register or cash box.)

5. Murahin at sigawan niyo pag pakiramdam niyo nasa paligid sila. DAW. Pwede ring magpatugtog na malakas. (You can scream, shout and curse them if you feel that something is lurking around. According to stories, they hate noise that's why they usually live in deep secluded places and said that once they take the human form, the rarely communicate with other people. You can also play loud music to scare them away.)

(Place a bullet by the window)

(Don't leave pregnant women, children and those with grave illnesses alone in the house or in a room, especially at night)

8. Bawang. Sikat na panlaban sa aswang. Magtabi lang kasama ng Asin. (Garlic. A very famous aswang repellant. Keep it handy with the salt.)

(Some say keep oil in a bottle. If it boils or overflows, the aswang is very near. It maybe used as a warning device. But I'm not sure with this one.)

(Don't stay or sleep next to the window. It will be easier for the aswang to victimize you.)

(And most important of all, pray. Whatever religion you are from, be brave and don't loose faith.)

Heart's Day and Heart Aches

It's fun celebrating Valentines - if you are in love. For most of us, it's a day to make us feel jealous, insecure and wishing we are happy as well.
Good thing my ate's small shop will be having a swimming Valentine's party with the rest of the gay people. It's fun. It's also an excuse not to sulk in one corner.

So tips on how to spend Valentine's alone:

1. Celebrate it with friends who are also single. At least you don't have to worry if they'll break up with you. Have dinner, treat yourselves to a spa, and find a partner whose out with his buddies as well.

2. Watch Girl Power infusing movies. We deserve more than a man who can't make up his mind. Plus we get to laugh or scream. It burns fats more than you can imagine. Just pick a healthy snack to munch on while glued to the tube.

3. Go out of town. Tagaytay is just an hour from Manila. Or if you have the luxury of time go for a better vacation. Boracay will also be filled with hunks you can dance with. A cute tan is a must for the upcoming summer season. :)

4. Play video games if you are into it, online shopping (*ehem* you can check mine at Facebook: LuxSerious Shoppe), have a haircut for a new look or treat yourself to a book. A good book feeds the mind and it helps you relax as well. Just don't lure yourself into romance or chic lits unless it empowers you're womanhood.

I can suggest Dan Brown novels and Nancy Drew Mysteries.

5. And most important of all, Pray after you wake up. Thank God you are alright and celebrate it with your family. They are the top people in your heart.

Have FUN AND ENJOY!

And the heat starts - now!

I can't bear going out for more than a minute. The warm air is already irritating me, imagine the really hot air blowing inside (yes inside) the house kahit saan ka magtago. I take showers 5x/day, pati anit ko may pawis. What do you think March and April will bring us?

Susme!
Dati we have floods and umaapaw ang dam, malamang next month tagtuyot na. Ubusan na ulit ng tubig.

Swimming! I wanna go swimming since yesterday without getting sunburned.

I also prefer swimming pools, fresh bodies of water like rivers and falls over beaches. Ayoko nung masakit sa mata at mahirap huminga.

                                                          Tamaraw Falls in Puerto Galera

Mashadong makati.

I also love to eat cold and refreshing foods and drinks gaya ng halo halo, ice cream and ice cold juice. We are really lucky na malapit kami sa Digman HaloHalo House.

You can visit them at Bacoor. Malapit lang sa Municipal Hall. And you can also try our famous Tahong Chips dipped in spicy vinegar. Yum!

Another riddle for me: Bakit mas masarap kumain ng adobo while on the beach or on a vacation, sa dahong saging?

Sorry for the blurry images. (thanks to Google)

Pero ano nga ba talagang meron pag nag-aagawan and using our hands (clean ones of course) na nagpapasarap sa pagkain lalo na pag swimming and outing?

Feel free to share your experiences and opinions :)

a lil birdie told me something & what's for dinner

So... I got a tweet about Danica Magpantay from Spot.ph Our lil model is all grown up (channeling Mushu when Mulan went to training). She just landed a stint in Vogue and I found out that she is the second Asian to win the prestigious Ford model search. Just Ctrl + F through the articles if you get tired reading and looking for her name. LOL.

So we're having Sisig for dinner. One of the reasons why I never bothered going to Pampanga to try their recipe is because our's is good enough for me. I do prefer real pig's brain over nakakaumay na mayonnaise, liver over puro taba and the crunchy bits that get a lil burnt over the sizzling plate. Masarap din pag may maraming calamansi at knorr seasoning :p.

Feel free to share how you like your sisig served.

25 Things to do in the Philippines

… before fantasizing about exploring other countries
I found this article, thanks to my friend, about how we should appreciate the Philippines even before traveling to different spaces beyond our borders.

I'm proud that I was able to experience 9 1/2 of what was in the list. And a half lang kasi ung iba too specific na eh. Hahahaha.
Hopefully this March and April matuloy kami at maging 11 1/2 na!

Subukan ko nga gumawa ng sariling list ^_^

So focus and try to see kung ilan na ang nagawa niyo!

 1. Go white water rafting in Cagayan de Oro. (I'm an avid fan of adventurous things lalo na pag nagttravel. Kayanin ko kaya yun?)

 2. Visit Batanes. (Isa sa mga gusto ko talagang gawin with a special someone of course at walang bagyo :p )

 3. See Mt. Mayon up close. (I did. I talked to her, kasi sabi nung isang tourist ilang araw na daw niyang hinihintay pero laging natatakpan ng clouds. But when we went there, I saw what one of Bicol's pride.)

4. Swim with the whale sharks in Donsol. (Dapat gagawin namin but as usual the oldies preferred doing something else. We do need to leave them home sometimes)

5. Climb Mt. Pulag and be awed by its sea of clouds. (Saan ito? ahahahah wait Google! Ah, just found out that it is the highest point in Luzon! Mountain Climbing, oh come on! I doubt if I can finish that. Hay!)

6. Dive, swim and explore Palawan’s underground river. (SOON! Wait for me! Sa March honey! We will be together! And I'll share it to you guys! Can't wait!)

7. Hike and let the view of Mt. Pinatubo crater take your breath away. (Pedeng pass na lang sa hike? And just be there instantly, as in within one flick of the finger?!)

8. Party in your bikini in Boracay. (Well it wasn't a bikini. Oh wait it was. May cover up lang hehehehe. And I wore something different when we partied. I'm an interesting drunk, I talk to everyone)

9. Surf’s up! Choose your wave—La Union, Zambales or Real, Quezon. (I've been to Zamabales pero not to surf eh. Matututo kaya ako ng surfing?)

10. Missed out on the pristine beauty of Boracay 15 years ago? Visit Malapascua, Cebu. (Hmmmm interesting!)

11. Dive and see the rich marine life of Anilao, Batangas (I even saw Dugong's (see Marina Teleserye) cave. Sad lang kasi it's full of vandals and trash.)

12. Travel back in time—go to Vigan. (Ahhh Vigan. I'd be happy to go back.)

13. Let Bohol wow you with its many offerings—the Chocolate Hills, the tarsier, the Loboc River Cruise, old churches and the beach. (I've been to Bohol pero during the time I was there I was expecting more. Didn't have that much fun but the trip was okay.)

14. Go high! Drive to the Mountain Province of Sagada. Check out the caves, the hanging coffins and enjoy the laidback lifestyle. (I wanna go there and be alone for a couple of days to go on a personal retreat. Yung walang gadgets at electricity. Okay na ung maliligo ka lang. Be one with nature. When do you think I'd be able to do that?)

15. Grab a Viaje del Sol map, visit Ugu Binyan’s pottery studio, eat at Kusina Salud and unwind at Casa San Pablo. (Errr.... Totally clueless. Google! Luzon's south? Hmmm.... More google. I like pottery, in fact I wanna learn. Ah now I get what this is all about. Looks interesting. Check their website: Viaje Del Sol).

(Half yes and no )16. Spend an entire week up north. Take a road trip from Manila to Vigan, Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Aparri and Isabela! (This is where the half thing lands, coz I've been to Vigan and Ilocos but not to the other destinations. So hopefully ma-fill ko ung half spot)

17. Try wakeboarding in Camsur. (Another SOON thing for me! Can't wait for this year's summer sana lang matuloy! Grabe! Pati Caramoan trip. Survivor wag muna this year. We want to see Gota island.)

18. Check out Malate, Old Manila and all their secret spots. (Another half thing. I've been to Malate and other old stuff in Manila but not to the secret spots. Anyone can share one secret spot? Maybe I've been there.)

19. There are many reasons to love Davao. Kublai’s artworks, its proximity to the beach, the tasty pastil and juicy suha. And did I mention that it’s a smoke-free city? (I'm sorry but I'm kind of afraid going to this place. And I don't know why. Well okay maybe because of the bombing but I get  a lot of comments na mas delikado pa ang Manila (which I don't feel that way AT ALL). Oh well I should build the courage and see it's real beauty. Help me)

20. Spend a weekend roughing it in Anawangin and Capones in Zambales. (The place was a real experience. I just hated the trekking part. I almost killed me with dehydration. Dapat real friends ang kasama mo dito. And lots of delatas and things to bond over (and not alcohol, I hate the people who treated the place as a beer house. Dapat ipagbawal ang alcohol sa ganung lugar! PLEASE!) I love the sights and the supposed hunted lighthouse. Astig. First time I've been to one and to be IN it.)

21. Check out our colorful fiestas and document them with your camera. Ati-atihan, Dinagyang, Masskara, Sinulog, Higantes, Panagbenga and more. (Another half yes and no for me again. Coz I've been to Higantes and Pangbenga as well as other fiestas. Even here in my hometown i partake to our yearly fiesta. I just love how colorful they can get.)

22. Pick your own strawberries at the Strawberry Fields in La Trinidad, Benguet. (Thankfully I was able to visit it a year before ONDOY and PEPENG where I found out that it was flooded and destroyed. The strawberries are really sweet and amazing. I love the twin looking fruits, ung pag nagsama ung 2 fruits into one. they look like hearts. One thing I can't leave Baguio without for sure, strawberries)

23. Go to Pampanga for sisig. (I've tried a lot of versions of Sisig but I've heard that they have the best. I like them crunchy and with utak ahahahaha yes pig brains.)

24. If it’s too hot in Manila, grab a few friends and take a quick trip to Tagaytay. (How I love to be living just less than an hour from this place. It's a convenient retreat place to be at. I also love their ukay ukay, cheap and fabulous. I'll share some of my finds next time)

25. Enjoy a food trip in Iloilo. You’ll never go hungry in this city. (I've been to ilo-ilo, Does bora count? LOL)

Birth Day

Aside from this post being my first, my birthday's coming up. And I'm turning 24.
24 years of my life and I woke up to find that someone just killed his self. Sad.
Was it because inosente siya or guilty siya. Guess we will never know (unless magsalita ang asawa niya diba?)
I won't say his name na, lahat na siguro ng bloggers at twitters na-mention na pangalan niya. I'm gonna start by not doing so.

On the good side, nagsisimula ng mapansin ang soccer/futball sa Pinas. Will the Azkals win? I'm currently tuned in the via satellite feed from Studio 23. And Gier (whoever he is) just fell flat on his face, or mali ako. Ano ba yun!

On the Pinoy fashion scene, I've been following Tina Tagle at www.chuvaness.com and in fairness I like her post about Mich Dulce's Creations and show in Japan. I'm a fan of hats myself, though naghahanap ako ng babagay saken. I really like her style (and no I'm not sucking up on her), kasi I prefer hats over necklaces. I dunno why, pero kung Harry Winston yan. GO!

just a recent tweet from Paulo Coelho: The only power you have on this planet is the power of your decisions. It reminds me of the Noetic Science, If you've read Brown's The Lost Symbol then you might be familiar with it as well. Could it actually be possible na we can control anything with our minds. Like for example making something come true just by convincing ourselves na mangyayari, kunyari gusto mong pumasa sa isang interview and just by concentrating na mabuti and you'd eventually will. They even considered (sa book) na if all people would think positively about something (like something good for the environment) may posibilidad din na mangyari.
Usually the call it being one with nature.

Let me finish my first post with a little thought about everything I wrote about:
Birth is a the start of a new life and rebirth can always happen (or so we claim) but the real meaning of it is if we really have changed for the better. Like our Nation.
